A potential improvement of several million dollars in efficiency increases and production was identified at the Quebec-Cartier Mining Company (QCMC). More than 1,500 pieces of equipment and more than 11,500 maintenance tasks were analyzed rapidly thanks to the analysis tools and techniques developed by PBM inc.
The company operates the largest open pit mine in Québec at Mont-Wright, and one of the most efficient pellet plants in the world at Port-Cartier.
The 416 km railway links the mine to the installations in Port-Cartier where the private
deep-water harbour is third in Canada in volume handled.
With its 1800 employees, Québec cartier ships around 13 million tonnes of iron products annually to steelmakers in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. The sales offices are located in Montréal and Brussels.
